The theme of the conference is “Waves of Change, Seas of Opportunity.” The theme aims to capture the challenges and opportunities facing the public works profession following the Great Recession. Conference technical sessions will be geared towards exploring and comparing sustainable policies and methods in this era of the “New Normal.” Considering these emerging trends, the Chapter believes that recognition of the importance of public works is vital in ensuring sustainable communities.

The event will be held at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. Negotiations with several oceanfront hotels near the Convention Center are underway. Reservation information will be announced as soon as a block of rooms and group rate have been confirmed.

Extra-curricular activities begin on Wednesday, May 9th. Golf and charter fishing are planned. So is a regional ROADEO where employees of public works agencies compete to show who is “boss” in the operation of heavy equipment.

The conference will open with a Wednesday night reception to meet and greet your fellow members and friends. The general agenda for the conference includes technical sessions through the day on Thursday followed by committee meetings and an evening banquet. Friday morning's agenda will include technical sessions, with door prizes prior to adjournment. Once again the Chapter will be offering CEUs for those who need such credits. A Chapter business meeting, election and installation of officers will be included earlier in the conference schedule.
